Welcome to Taila Talks, the blog where, you guessed it: Taila talks. I'm a nerdy indie author with some occasional philosophical thoughts to share. Here you can follow my journey, wherever that may take me. I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center- Kurt Vonnegut.

Writing #1: Introduction
Two posts in two days, I'll pause for the applause.... Okay now that y'all have gotten over your shock let's get down to business (TO DEFEAT THE HUNS DID THEY SEND ME- sorry I'll stop now). I thought I would talk a bit about my writing, after all my intention is to force all you nice people to read my books.
I started writing when I was fourteen, I was a freshmen in high school at the time, and I woke up one morning and had a story I wanted to write down. It is a bit cliche, but it's the truth. To this day that story is my passion project, I would like to see it on the shelves someday. I won't go into too much detail, but think a bit of Norse Mythology and a whole lot of mythical creatures, and maybe a pinch of romance.
I've always loved to read, from Harry Potter to Shakespeare to Sherrilyn Kenyon, I read a pretty wide array of things. Of course, my favorite genre is probably fantasy or paranormal romance (my true guilty pleasure), and while you probably won't find me reading much contemporary romance, I do dive into a John Green novel every now and again. It just made sense that someday I would put out my own novels. I read anywhere from three to eight books a week, which is why I love eBooks so much, much cheaper.
I usually have three or four different projects at one time, with a few others floating around waiting for attention. They span across several different genres, because I'm not trying to be boring. I've recently jumped into a new pond, you'll have to wait around to see what that might be, I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise. My deadline for my newest project is August, unless something comes up, at which time I will begin the publishing process (pray for me). I would like to have the first draft completed before then, but we'll see. As I mentioned in my last post I spoke to a very nice woman who co owns a publishing company, and I'm hopeful that they will accept my proposal and help me along on this journey. I'm hoping to have the pre-order and cover reveal around December, with the novel officially releasing sometime in early 2018. As I said earlier, if I can get it done sooner I would be so happy, but I'm trying to be realistic.
Come back soon!

Welcome Post
Oh man, I have been so productive lately. I have signed up for college (for the second time) and been provisionally accepted, I've written twenty thousand words on a novel in 25 days, I gained a writing assistant, I spoke to someone who co owns a publishing company, and a few more personal things. I even started up this blog, I intend to talk about writing, school, books, movies, and maybe some other things, after all I am Taila Talks, I've got to talk about things.
My intention is to work on my actual website so you guys can check out my current and future projects, because I'm an adult professional now (at least I play pretend sometimes), but first someone has to teach me how to internet. Everyone thinks, because I was born in the internet age, I know how to do things, the fact I've figured out how to google is a miracle in in of it's self.
Since this is supposed to be my welcome post I should probably tell you a bit about myself, I don't think I'm very interesting. I'm just your average eighteen year old writer. I barely sleep (it's 2:30 in the morning right now), I talk about werewolves and hot men way too often, I geek out over Marvel and Star Wars, I listen to an array of different music, and sometimes I even play at being a college student. Do I talk about my dating profile now? I am so single, I may have to take a lesson from plants so I can asexually reproduce, and I'm somewhat okay with that. Anyone who is willing to listen to me rant about fictional characters for hours on end may submit an application you will be pushed to the front of the line. In all seriousness, I'm just trying to live the most fun, but calm life a person can live.
Come back soon, and see more posts where I rant late at night.
Taila Out.
